On Tuesday 22 January 2019, Dumbarton defeated Cardross at Braehead curling rink to win the Brownlie Shield, ending a run of 6 consecutive victories for Cardross.

Game 1 was a tight and keenly fought affair. Cardross scored a single in the first end, and the lead changed several times thoughout the match.
Cardross lead 6-5 after 7 ends, but Dumbarton (skipped by Andy Rankin) had the advantage of the hammer going down the last end. Already scoring one, Andy drew the final stone of the match, into the house to score 2 and win the game 7-6.
Over on game 2 Cardross were also first on the scoreboard takeing a 2 in the first end. That was as good as it got though for Cardross as Dumbarton (skipped by David Shanks) took control of the game easing to a 9-4 win.
As the Brownlie Shield is played over 2 rinks, with the combined score from both games determing the result, the final score was Dumbarton 16 - 10 Cardross.
