As usual, there were many notable contributions from members of Dumbarton Curling Club throughout the season. However, it was felt that Allan’s keenness stood out — not only in his commitment to attend as many club nights as possible and step in as a reserve for external matches, as many members did, but also in his eagerness to learn and his willingness to approach every shot with confidence, regardless of its difficulty or the strength of the opposition. This confidence and eagerness became even more evident given that this was Allan’s first season as a curler.
The President's Shield was awarded to the club by Dumbarton District Council in 1992 to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the Club's founding in 1815.
There is no set criteria to decide the recipient of the Shield with the decision being at the discretion of the President and/or committee. It has been awarded in the past for most improved player, most consistent player, overall contribution to the club during the season.
